What is GlyNAC?

GlyNAC stands for glycine + N–acetylcysteine. Glycine is an amino acid. NAC is a stable form of the amino acid cysteine. Together with glutamate, glycine and cysteine form glutathione, the most important antioxidant your body makes in its cells. Cysteine and glycine are often the limiting building blocks: if either one falls short, the body produces less glutathione. Read the full explanation in our GlyNAC guide.

What does research say about GlyNAC?

Most of the research comes from the team of Dr. Rajagopal Sekhar (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston). In small clinical studies in older adults, GlyNAC supplementation raised glutathione levels in red blood cells and lowered markers of oxidative stress (Kumar et al., Clinical and Translational Medicine, 2021; Kumar et al., Journals of Gerontology, 2023). The studies are small and the doses used were high and adjusted to body weight. More research is needed before firm conclusions can be drawn. You can find an overview under GlyNAC research.

GlyNAC or NAC alone?

NAC only provides cysteine. In Sekhar’s studies, glycine was also a limiting factor for glutathione production in older adults, which is why both are given together. With GlyNAC you take both building blocks in one capsule. Read the full comparison in GlyNAC vs NAC.

How do you take GlyNAC?

  • Take GlyNAC daily at a fixed time, with water and optionally with a meal.
  • At 1 capsule per day a pack lasts 60 days, at 2 capsules 30 days.
  • Many people combine GlyNAC with NMN and TMG in one morning routine.

What to look for when buying GlyNAC

  • Both ingredients: check that it contains both glycine and NAC, not just NAC.
  • Amount per capsule and how many capsules you need per day.
  • Price per capsule rather than price per jar.
  • No unnecessary additives such as colourings or sweeteners.

Combining GlyNAC with NMN and TMG

GlyNAC targets glutathione, NMN targets NAD⁺ and TMG targets methylation. Because these are different pathways, they are often used together. Read more in NMN, TMG and GlyNAC as a longevity stack.

Frequently asked questions about GlyNAC

What is GlyNAC?

GlyNAC is a combination of glycine and N-acetylcysteine (NAC). The body uses glycine and cysteine, together with glutamate, to make glutathione, the most important antioxidant in your cells.

How much GlyNAC is in one capsule?

Each Every Day Better capsule contains 600 mg of GlyNAC (glycine and NAC combined). A pack contains 60 capsules and costs €31.50.

What is the difference between GlyNAC and NAC?

NAC only provides cysteine. GlyNAC also provides glycine, the second building block of glutathione, which research suggests is often limiting in older adults.

Has GlyNAC been scientifically studied?

Yes, but mainly in small studies. Researchers at Baylor College of Medicine saw higher glutathione levels and less oxidative stress in older adults after GlyNAC supplementation. Larger studies are still needed.

Can I combine GlyNAC with NMN?

Yes. GlyNAC and NMN work through different pathways (glutathione and NAD⁺) and are often used together in a morning routine.
